Polly scans the menu with her brow furrowed.

“Are you ready to order, madam?” asks the server.

“Almost. I’m having a little trouble choosing,” she says with an apologetic smile.

“No problem. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but you can pay extra for each additional trait on top of the 10 included in the base price.”

“Really? Well, that’s good to know. I think I will do that, actually.”

“Absolutely. Just give me a shout when you’re ready.”

The server busies herself with a small chunk of clay and a sculpting tool. Soon enough, a perfectly-sculptured nose comes to life beneath her fingers.

“Fuck it,” Polly says suddenly, surprising the server who drops her nose on the floor. “I’ll have them all. How can you pick just a handful of personality traits when so many good ones are on offer?”

The server smiles. “Excellent choice, madam. Now, is this your first time at Build-A-Bloke, or do you already have an account with us?”

Stories That Sing

I write one new story each week inspired by a random song from my Spotify library. This week it was Arctic Monkeys’ I Want It All.

Want to join in? Open your music-player of choice, hit shuffle, and write a story about the first song that plays (or the first song that inspires you to write). Then tell me about it, ‘cos you bet I wanna read what you came up with.
